The Facts
Work at height means working in a place where a person could be injured if they fell from one level to another. This can be above or below ground level. More than 50% of falls are from less than three metres and approximately 70% of falls are from ladders and roofs. The cost of these falls is estimated to be $24 million a year, to say nothing of the human cost as a result of these falls.
Our Training
Now you have an idea of what Working at Heights involves and the risks involved, keep reading to learn about our training! We offer Heights Training Face-to-Face as a full-day Competency-Based training for both first time trainees and for experienced workers needing refreshers. For those who are experienced and just need a quick refresher however, we can also offer this training Online.
Face-to-Face Training
We run this course as a Private, Company-Specific Training or as a Public Course every month.
Private, Company-Specific Training
Our Private, Company-Specific course is perfect if you have a group of up to 10 people. We can tailor-make this course to suit your industry, and we can incorporate any of your own procedures. Prices for this start at $2,950.00 + GST depending on your location, for up to 10 people. This is generally held at our site, however we can hold it at your site if there is a suitable training area, and if our trainer is able to carry out a site visit (or at least view the area via photos) prior to the training to ensure the area is suitable. Contact us if you would like to book this for your team. Half-day refresher training may be available upon request, if you have proof of previous training.
We supply all harnesses, high-vis and hard hats, but please ensure you wear suitable footwear and clothing. Generally what you would normally wear on site will be fine.
Public Courses
You can check to see if we have any upcoming Public Courses here. This is great if you have just one or a few people needing this training. This is a full-day course and runs at a set date and time at our training centre. The price for our Public Heights Safety & Awareness Training is $310.00 + GST per person.
Online Training
We also have a Heights Safety & Awareness Refresher Training online. Online training is a good supplement to practical experience and competency, and can be a way to gain knowledge and understanding before or after practical training. It is a great way to learn about the training and all the course content before or after discussions with our trainer(s). It can also be used as an effective safety and awareness training refresher and in large scale or rapid roll-out training situations. Online Training in some cases may not be suitable and it is up to the individual or management to decide when and where it is appropriate.
The cost for this is $169.00 + GST and it takes approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. Trainees can access the training on their own time whenever suits them. They will receive login details and instructions on how to access the course. It contains a mix of visual and written information in an interactive format, and there is a quiz to complete. Trainees must receive a 90% pass-rate to be able to download their certificate.
Course Description
Our Heights Safety and Awareness Training is aimed at ensuring people working at heights can understand and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attributes for all essential areas covered under the full “best practice” guidelines in the workplace. This course covers a combination of theory and practical elements using a competency based method.
This course outlines the importance of risk management and hazard identification, the different restraint and fall arrest systems, anchorage techniques, and different types of height work.
