Training 4 Safety - 2025 Year in Review
As we close out 2025, it’s the perfect time to reflect on a year filled with progress, new technology, stronger partnerships, and continued dedication to practical, meaningful safety training. It’s been a huge year for Training 4 Safety, and we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved alongside our clients, trainees, and community.
Here’s a look at the milestones that shaped 2025.
Continuing to Enhance Our Purpose-Built Training Facility
While our move into the Kioreroa Road facility happened earlier, 2025 was a year of continued development and optimisation of the space.
This year we focused on:
- Expanding the way we use our specialised practical areas
- Improving access, flow, and onsite safety for trainees
- Enhancing our simulator, machinery, and fire training environments
- Creating smoother transitions between classroom learning and hands-on training
The facility continues to evolve with us, and it’s become an incredible hub for high-quality, immersive safety training.
Training Innovation: Vortex Edge Max Simulator
Our Vortex Edge Max Heavy Machinery Training Simulator has quickly become a fan favourite across organisations and trainees alike.
This year we’ve received excellent feedback on its value for:
- Interview and pre-hire screening
- Staff inductions and onboarding
- Post-incident reviews and retraining
- Assessing operator capability in a safe, controlled environment
It continues to strengthen our practical training and provide organisations with clearer, evidence-based insights into operator skills.
New eLearning Release: Cyber Smart – Prevent, Protect & Respond
This year we proudly launched our latest digital training module:
Cyber Smart: Prevent, Protect and Respond — a practical introduction to everyday cyber safety risks.
The course covers:
- Recognising and responding to cyber threats
- Password and device management
- Protecting personal and workplace data
- Simple, actionable tips for preventing cyber incidents
It has quickly become popular with organisations for induction programmes and onboarding new staff, providing a consistent and accessible introduction to cyber awareness.
Growth in STCW Training & Alumni Success
Our STCW programme continued its upward trajectory in 2025:
- An increased number of intakes compared to previous years
- Strong word-of-mouth referrals and glowing testimonials
- Trainees joining us from across New Zealand, the islands, Australia, and Europe
- Alumni stepping into exciting roles on superyachts, commercial vessels, ferries, tugs, and offshore operations
The continued demand highlights the value of practical, instructor-led maritime training that meets industry expectations.
Competency-based training continues to grow
We also experienced consistent growth across all competency-based programmes.
Businesses are increasingly seeking training that is practical, purposeful, and aligned with real workplace requirements. Our focus has been supporting them to understand what “good” looks like in terms of compliance, capability, and defensible training outcomes.
Our competency-based model is designed to meet or exceed expectations, giving organisations stronger evidence of real-world competency that is easier to support during an audit or incident investigation.
In 2025 we:
- Delivered hundreds of tailored workplace sessions
- Supported a wide range of industries through custom training
- Introduced new workshops including De-escalation (field & office versions) and Risk Assessment
- Continued building new business relationships across Northland and beyond
This shift toward meaningful, relevant training remains one of our proudest achievements.
Growth in Practical & Machinery-Based Training
Engagement in our practical programmes continued to rise, especially in:
- 4WD Training
- Heights & EWP
- Confined Spaces & Hazardous Atmospheres
- Pendant crane and Slinging & Rigging
- Fire Suppression/Extinguisher
- Basic First Aid
Enhanced scenarios, upgraded spaces, and new simulator technology have strengthened both training quality and learner confidence.
Strengthening Community Partnerships & Local Support
Community involvement remains core to who we are.
This year, we proudly supported and partnered with:
- Whangārei Speedway
- Whangārei Deep Sea Anglers Club
- Northland Rescue Helicopter
- Local schools through caretaker and tool-safety training
- North Haven Hospice
- Hundertwasser Art Centre
- International Rally of Whangārei
We love giving back to the community that supports us, and 2025 was a fantastic year for strengthening these connections.
Upholding Our ISO Accreditation
Another highlight of 2025 was continuing to uphold our ISO accreditation, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to:
- Quality training delivery
- Consistent internal systems
- Clear and defensible assessment processes
- Continuous improvement across all aspects of our organisation
Maintaining our ISO standards reflects the professionalism and dedication of our entire team — something we’re incredibly proud of.
Behind-the-Scenes Improvements
Alongside our frontline training delivery, we continued to refine and improve our internal operations:
- More streamlined enrolment and communication workflows
- Enhancements to our online course library and LMS
- Ongoing trainer CPD and internal skill development
- Stronger alignment with Maritime NZ expectations
- More efficient booking and account management systems
- Increased creation of safety content, alumni spotlights, and educational resources
These improvements help ensure a smooth and supportive experience from first contact through to certification.
Looking Ahead to 2026
With strong early registrations, new modules underway, expanded digital learning, and continued investment in technology, 2026 is shaping up to be another exciting year for Training 4 Safety.
We look forward to continuing to support Northland workplaces with practical, engaging, and high-quality training.
